'The Horizon Cookbook and Illustrated History of Eating and Drinking Through the Ages' is one book that definitely lives up to its title!
With credit to lead author William Harlan Hale and the Editors of Horizon Magazine, to Wendy Buehr, editor in charge, and Mimi Sheraton, historical consultant, it's a comprehensive history of food and drink, with 600 classic international recipes and menus.
Crepes Suzette? Mead? Creme Chantilly? Lobster Thermidor? They're in here, but they're only a portion of this book that describe food and its history, and culinary customs from around the world.
It's profusely illustrated (570 in all!) in color and black/white and, as someone told me, it's a great one for the 'foodie' in your life!
The book is in Very Good condition with only light edge/corner wear. The dust jacket is Good overall, with edge/corner wear.
